Megan Eckert, a middle-school math teacher from Santa Fe, New Mexico, is set to participate in the Global Organization of Multi-Day Ultramarathoners World Championship. The event begins this Thursday in Balatonfüred, Hungary, where over 100 runners will compete to cover the greatest distance possible over a six-day span. Eckert holds the women’s record for the event and aims to improve upon her previous 144-hour distance performance. Beyond her own record, she is targeting the existing United States men’s mark.
