The Melbourne Stars are set to merge with the Melbourne Renegades, concluding an era in the Big Bash League (BBL) during which they never claimed a title. The Stars, a founding franchise, leave the league without ever winning the championship despite reaching the final three times. Their final performance included losses to the Sydney Thunder, their city rivals the Renegades, and the Sydney Sixers. The merged franchise will now play under Cricket Victoria and make the MCG their home ground moving forward.
