"LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - MAY 23: Mercedes Moné attends the Launch of Disney+ And Lucasfilm New TV Series "The Acolyte" at El Capitan Theatre on May 23, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. | Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic Last Wednesday, June 3, Mercedes Moné ended a six-month AEW hiatus, returning on Dynamite as the Wild Card entrant in the 2026 Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament. Moné’s return also means the return of Moné Mag, her online fanzine. The CEO doesn’t break character when writing for the Mag, but she addresses work and shoot topics. In the latest, Mercedes comments on various rumors that crossed her radar while she was out of the spotlight for most of this year. Before she continues her quest for a second-straight Owen Cup on this week’s Dynamite Summer Blockbuster show, Moné dismissed talk she’s been injured, or was/is pregnant, or in a contract dispute with AEW. She writes: I’m back and I feel better than ever. Almost 6 months away. I’ve never had a break that long that wasn’t due to injury and after 16 years it was the first time I got to truly relax and have no worries. But one thing I realized during that time away? I missed wrestling so much. Especially that AEW. While I was gone I saw all the rumors. ‘Oh she’s pregnant.’ ‘Oh contract issues.’ ‘Oh she’s leaving.’ ‘Oh this.’ ‘Oh that.’ Oh… NOTHING. Can I enjoy my vacation in peace? Can a woman have a period and be bloated? Can I enjoy my time off without speculation and rumors? One thing I also learned is there’s nobody more impatient than wrestling fans. Y’all are the type of people who look up the ending of a movie before finishing it. You love not being surprised. You love not being present and fully in the moment because you’re so caught up in the fantasy. But now the wait is over. The former TBS and CMLL Women’s champ doesn’t say the baby bump and contract dispute added to her time away, just that she’s back because the time is right. She summed it up: I wasn’t gone because of injuries. I wasn’t gone because of contract issues. I was simply waiting for the right time. Glad to have those rumors dispelled, even if you never heard any of them until Mercedes told you about them?
