Maya World fought Mercedes Moné in the final match of the women’s Owen Hart Tournament tonight (June 28) at AEW Forbidden Door. The winner earns an AEW women’s world title match at All In London. Maya came out of nowhere to have a Cinderella run through the tournament, fighting in memory of her brother. But could she go all the way with a miracle win over arguably the top star on the AEW roster? The two women had an excellent match, featuring so many moments where you thought Maya really could pull off the upset to main event AEW’s biggest show of the year. Thekla is holding the belt right now, but I doubt that AEW will book a heel vs. heel title match. Could Willow Nightingale return from injury in time to perhaps make it a 3-way?
