Mercury sign Maddy Westbeld from Chicago Sky on rest-of-season deal

The Phoenix Mercury signed forward Maddy Westbeld on August 18, securing her for the remainder of the season. Westbeld, sister of injured Mercury player Kathryn Westbeld, joins after two seasons with the Chicago Sky. The Sky did not match the Mercury’s offer after the team put in an offer sheet for her. In her rookie season, Maddy averaged 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds over 26 games and played three games this season under a developmental contract. She will wear jersey No. 21 for the Mercury.
