Mets alumni visit FDNY firehouse to mark 25 years after 9/11

Former New York Mets players visited FDNY Ladder Company No. 25 on Tuesday to honor first responders on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Attendees included John Franco, Todd Zeile, Al Leiter, Robin Ventura, and David Wright. The event continues a long-standing tradition of Mets personnel visiting firehouses to show appreciation for community service. In the wake of the 2001 tragedy, the organization repurposed Shea Stadium as a supply distribution site and sent staff to Ground Zero to support recovery efforts. The team’s presence also serves as a reminder of the 2001 return to play, highlighted by Mike Piazza's emotional home run in a victory against the Atlanta Braves. David Wright continues his personal involvement with local responders through his annual Battle of the Badges baseball game.
