The New York Mets executed several trades ahead of the 2026 MLB trade deadline, offloading expiring contracts and acquiring a mix of minor-leaguers. Key additions include minor league infielder Jefferson Rojas from the Chicago Cubs and shortstop Sammy Stafura from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Mets' decision to focus on rebuilding comes amid a disappointing season, with mixed reviews on the effectiveness of their trades. With Rojas being the only highly-ranked prospect obtained, questions remain about the team's strategy moving forward as they aim to contend for 2027. A significant offseason is anticipated to address the bullpen and bolster the roster.
