Mets discuss trade options for pitcher Freddy Peralta ahead of deadline

Summary

Freddy Peralta, currently with a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts for the New York Mets, may be on the trading block as the deadline approaches. Initially expected to boost the Mets' playoff contention, Peralta's performance has instead led to speculation about his value in a potential trade. He is set to become a free agent at season's end, complicating the Mets' situation. Some scouts suggest the Mets might receive a lower-tier prospect in return, reflecting Peralta's recent struggles and rental status. The Mets are likely to conduct a broader sell-off, with additional players potentially joining Peralta in trade talks.
