Mets emerge as potential favorites to sign Tarik Skubal this offseason

The New York Mets are being discussed as likely contenders to sign free agent pitcher Tarik Skubal as the offseason begins. While the Mets are positioned to spend heavily in the market, speculation arises about agent Scott Boras possibly using their interest to elevate Skubal's price. Sources indicate that New York's need for a starting pitcher and willingness to invest could make them aggressive players for Skubal's services. However, Mets president David Stearns has shown hesitance in committing significant funds to top-tier pitchers, raising questions about their true level of interest. As discussions progress, it remains uncertain how seriously the Mets are pursuing Skubal amid league speculation.
