Mets face pivotal decisions on team direction amid tough season

Summary

The New York Mets are struggling at the bottom of the NL East, over 10 games under.500, as the trade deadline approaches. Following offseason acquisitions like Freddy Peralta and Bo Bichette, expectations for a playoff run have not materialized. With the team's future uncertain, the front office may need to consider trades for key players, including Francisco Lindor, whose full no-trade clause complicates potential moves. The Mets could explore dealing veterans like Peralta and Bichette if they opt for a retool or a rebuild, thus reshaping the roster significantly ahead of next season.
