Mets' Luke Weaver sought by Pirates, Brewers ahead of trade deadline

Luke Weaver, a reliever for the New York Mets, is attracting trade inquiries from the Pittsburgh Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers as the July 31 MLB trade deadline approaches. The right-hander has recorded a 1.88 ERA with 44 strikeouts over 43 innings this season. Weaver, who signed with the Mets in December 2025, is under contract through the end of the 2027 season. He has largely functioned as a setup man but has previous experience as a closer. The Mets are evaluating offers, particularly interested in prospects Murf Gray and Sammy Stafura from the Pirates.
