Mets make key trades ahead of deadline, analysts provide grades

Summary

The New York Mets executed several trades leading up to the recent MLB deadline, with analysts offering varied grades on the deals. Key moves included sending David Peterson to the Cubs in exchange for Cole Mathis, which received an 'A' grade. The Mets acquired Émilien Pitre and others from the Rays for Freddy Peralta, earning an 'A-' grade. However, trades such as A.J. Minter to the Twins for Billy Amick were viewed less favorably, receiving a 'C.' The Mets capitalized on player values as they began a rebuild, transitioning from a competitive stance. As the season continues, the effectiveness of these trades will be assessed based on player performance and development in the coming months.
