Mets outfielder Carson Benge contributes in win against Yankees

New York Mets right fielder Carson Benge hit his 17th home run of the season during a 4-0 Subway Series victory against the New York Yankees. The 23-year-old rookie finished the game 2-for-5 with two RBI, snapping an 18-game homer-less streak with a third-inning shot off Gerrit Cole. Beyond his plate performance, Benge recorded a defensive catch on a line drive from Aaron Judge in the eighth inning. Interim manager Andy Green noted that Benge’s frequent highlight-reel plays have become expected by the team. Benge has accumulated 22 stolen bases and 10 outfield assists this season, the latter leading all rookies.
