The New York Mets have placed closer Devin Williams on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder fatigue, as announced on August 10, 2026. Williams experienced arm fatigue earlier in the week, causing him to miss a game against Cleveland. He returned to pitch on August 8 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he allowed two earned runs in one inning. The Mets plan to use a closer by committee approach in his absence, recalling right-hander Jonathan Pintaro from the minors. Williams has struggled this season with a 4.66 ERA and has been inconsistent on the mound, prompting the Mets to adjust their bullpen strategy until his return.
