Mets prioritize starting pitchers as offseason approaches

The New York Mets are focusing on bolstering their starting rotation ahead of the offseason. Owner Steve Cohen has identified Tarik Skubal as a top priority, following the team's struggles with a 4.47 ERA from starters last season. The Mets are looking to turn around their pitching situation after trading Freddy Peralta during the last season. They had previously made a substantial offer to Yoshinobu Yamamoto, indicating a willingness to spend on talent. Cohen is expected to pursue Skubal, who is anticipated to secure a record-breaking contract this winter.
