New York Mets relief pitcher Reed Garrett reached a recovery milestone Tuesday by throwing his first bullpen session since undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery. Garrett performed the session in Miami while the team was in town for a three-game series. Interim manager Andy Green noted that the pitcher threw several strikes and finished the session without reporting discomfort. The 33-year-old was shut down last August after experiencing elbow inflammation and subsequent discomfort following a brief stint on the injured list. While he was not expected to return to the active roster this season, the progression marks a step forward for his status heading into next year. Garrett has spent the season rehabbing at the team facility in Port St. Lucie and remains under club control through the 2029 season.
