Mets trade pitcher Freddy Peralta to Rays for three prospects

The New York Mets traded pitcher Freddy Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays on August 2 ahead of the MLB trade deadline. Peralta, performing poorly with a 4.99 ERA this season, joins the Rays in hopes of regaining form. In exchange, the Mets received outfielder Aidan Smith, right-hander Gary Gill Hill, and infielder Émilien Pitre from Tampa Bay. This trade follows the earlier deal sending A.J. Minter to the Minnesota Twins. Peralta is set to become a free agent this winter.
