Mexico federations backs Gianni Infantino amid FIFA leadership concerns

Summary

The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) has publicly supported FIFA president Gianni Infantino, distancing itself from a letter signed by other Concacaf members seeking accountability in FIFA's governance. The FMF's support comes after the successful 2026 World Cup, which benefited Mexican soccer financially and reputationally. Additionally, Mexico is pursuing ambitions to host the 2029 Club World Cup, increasing its interest in maintaining a favorable relationship with Infantino. Sources indicate that Mexico's unique position within the region could lead to significant advantages in future tournaments.
