Miami Dolphins claim seven players off waivers ahead of NFL season start

The Miami Dolphins added seven players via the waiver wire on August 28, 2026, marking a significant roster adjustment just days before the team's regular season opener. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley claimed quarterback Brady Cook, defensive back Marcellas Dial, offensive tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick, tight end Justin Jolly, offensive tackle Jarrett Kingston, defensive back Taylor Reese, and defensive back Julius Wood. This total of seven claims represents the highest number among all NFL teams, with no other franchise claiming more than three players. The move follows a coaching transition from Mike McDaniel to Hafley and a period of roster turnover aimed at removing problematic personalities from the locker room. Analysts suggest the volume of claims indicates potential deficiencies in the offseason personnel acquisition process as the organization prepares for its first game.
