Miami Hurricanes miss Xavier Lucas for the Florida A&M football game

Miami Hurricanes junior cornerback Xavier Lucas did not participate in warmups ahead of Thursday's home game against Florida A&M. Lucas was not dressed for the contest, leaving the Hurricanes shorthanded in the secondary. The team entered the matchup already missing starting cornerback OJ Frederique Jr., who sustained a significant injury during the team's season-opening victory against Stanford. Coach Mario Cristobal provided no prior indication of Lucas's unavailability earlier in the week. Because the game is a nonconference matchup, the team was not required to release an official availability report. Miami adjusted its defensive lineup by starting Damari Brown and Bryce Fitzgerald at outside cornerback, while freshman JJ Dunnigan received his first start at safety.
