Porter explained that the moniker stems from his playing tenure with the Denver Nuggets, where he often prioritized taking his own shots because he felt his high release point made him open regardless of defensive coverage. He noted that playing alongside Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray emphasized his tendency to score rather than pass. Since joining the Brooklyn Nets, Porter has maintained his scoring role while simultaneously recording a career-high 18.2 percent assist rate last season. He averaged 24.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game during his most recent campaign with the team.
