Michigan defensive coordinator Jay Hill expresses interest in head coaching roles

Michigan defensive coordinator Jay Hill confirmed his interest in returning to a head coaching position while addressing rumors during a press event on October 29, 2026. Hill, who previously led Weber State for nine years, indicated that although he enjoyed his time as a head coach, his current focus remains solely on Michigan, where he aims to maintain the team's elite defensive performance. Michigan's defense is currently ranked second nationally. With coaching changes occurring across the NCAA, Hill's name may be in consideration for open coaching roles if more programs seek new leadership.
