Michigan football programs reorganize schedules following Cheboygan varsity season forfeit

The cancellation of the Cheboygan football season has disrupted schedules for nine Michigan high school programs, forcing athletic departments to seek new opponents on short notice. Boyne City, which was slated to host Cheboygan in Week 3, will not play a game this week and accepts a forfeit victory that awards the program 35 playoff points. Charlevoix opted to fill a hole in its schedule by scheduling a Week 5 rematch against McBain, a team that also faced a vacancy after the cancellation of the Roscommon program. Other schools, including Sault Ste. Marie, Kalkaska, St. Joseph, and Grayling, have already secured replacement games to fill the gaps created by the forfeit. Elk Rapids, Kingsley, and New Lothrop have yet to announce replacements for their remaining affected dates.
