Michigan State center Jack Hextall drafted by Calgary Flames in NHL first round

Jack Hextall has been selected by the Calgary Flames as the No. 30 pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. Hextall, a 6-foot-1 center from Rolling Meadows, Illinois, will join Michigan State hockey for the 2026-27 season after a successful stint with the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL, where he recorded 28 goals and 64 assists. This marks the fourth first-round selection for Michigan State, following picks Chase Reid, Nikita Klepov, and Tommy Belchetz. Hextall is expected to anchor the third line for the Spartans next season.
