Michigan State released a video teaser on Thursday night suggesting the return of the song Type of Way by Rich Homie Quan as a team theme. The song served as an unofficial anthem during the 2013-14 season when the program secured a Big Ten Championship and a Rose Bowl victory. The team played the track in the locker room following each of their 13 wins that year, and the school previously flew the artist to their bowl game against Stanford. The teaser video includes the phrase Prepare for Glory and implies the music may return as soon as the team's next game. Current defensive coordinator Max Bullough participated in the 2013-14 campaign as a player. The artist, Rich Homie Quan, died in 2024 at the age of 34.
