Michigan State hires Jon Palumbo as interim athletic director

Michigan State has appointed Jon Palumbo as the interim athletic director effective July 10. He replaces J Batt, who is departing for a new position at Kentucky, where he will begin on July 28. MSU will receive a $3.95 million buyout for Batt's departure. Palumbo previously served as executive deputy athletic director and chief operating officer at Georgia Tech and has prior experience as athletic director at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from 2018 to 2022. The university is in the process of searching for a permanent replacement for Batt.
