Michigan State hockey announces captains for 2026-27 season

Michigan State hockey appointed senior defenseman Patrick Geary as team captain for the 2026-27 season. Forwards Tommi Mannisto and Shane Vansaghi will serve as alternate captains. Geary replaces former captain Matt Basgall, who completed his eligibility and moved to the professional level. Geary enters the upcoming season with 94 games of collegiate experience over three previous years. The Spartans, who are ranked among the preseason top five teams, intend to contend for a national championship this winter. The team will open its schedule on October 9 against Northern Michigan.
