Middlesbrough has reached an agreement to sign Tottenham defender Ashley Phillips for an initial fee of £7 million, which could rise to £20 million with add-ons. This follows their earlier acquisition of striker Will Lankshear from Spurs. However, Middlesbrough appears to be losing out on another target, 18-year-old forward Mikey Moore, who is likely heading to FC Koln. Phillips becomes part of Boro's active summer transfer campaign, as the club also confirmed the signing of midfielder Max Arfsten for around £5.5 million and is set to acquire goalkeeper Radek Vítek for £14 million.
