The Midwest Challenge powerboat races scheduled for August 8-9 in Sheboygan have been canceled. Organizers, the International Hot Rod Association, cited an inability to provide necessary staffing and operational support as the reason for the cancellation, which was announced on July 13. This event has attracted significant attendance and spending since its debut in 2023, but numbers fell in subsequent years. Last year's event was also curtailed due to severe weather. Despite the cancellation, the city of Sheboygan plans to proceed with modified festivities that weekend, including the Block Party at City Green and Bites and Brews at King Park.
