Chicago White Sox third baseman Miguel Vargas is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Rate Field. Manager Will Venable scheduled the rest day for the 2026 All-Star to navigate a demanding stretch of 13 consecutive games without an off day. The absence is not injury-related, as the team looks to manage the workload for the infielder who has played in 142 games this season. Colson Montgomery will start at third base, while Chase Meidroth takes the position at shortstop for the Chicago lineup. Davis Martin is scheduled to pitch for the White Sox against right-hander Lake Bachar. The White Sox currently maintain a two-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central standings.
