Mike Conley leaves Minnesota Timberwolves to join Boston Celtics

Summary

NBA veteran Mike Conley has departed the Minnesota Timberwolves after signing a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Boston Celtics this summer. Conley spent four seasons in Minnesota, where he averaged 9.0 points and 4.6 assists while serving as a mentor to Anthony Edwards. The move marks a shift for the Timberwolves, who lose a veteran presence that provided guidance during and after games. According to reports, Conley pursued the opportunity to play for a marquee, storied franchise during the final stages of his career. To adjust for the roster change, the Timberwolves added LaMelo Ball, Josh Green, and Jonathan Kuminga during free agency. Conley now prepares for his 20th NBA season as a member of the Celtics.
