Mike Elko expects LSU to remain in SEC following roster dispute

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko stated Wednesday he does not expect the SEC to expel LSU from the conference. The SEC had previously scheduled a meeting to discuss LSU’s membership following a dispute over player eligibility. The conflict stemmed from a Louisiana judge’s ruling allowing former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris to regain college eligibility, a move the SEC opposed. LSU subsequently finalized its 105-player roster without those two players, effectively halting the proposed expulsion vote. Elko used a parenting metaphor to describe the standoff, suggesting the university backed down once faced with potential consequences from conference leadership. Texas A&M is currently scheduled to play LSU in Baton Rouge on September 26.
