Mike Evans joins San Francisco 49ers after signing three-year contract

Wide receiver Mike Evans enters his first season with the San Francisco 49ers following a 12-year tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 33-year-old receiver signed a three-year deal worth up to $42.4 million with $16.3 million guaranteed. Evans previously recorded 11 consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards before injuries limited his production during the 2025 season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan expects the 6-foot-5, 231-pound receiver to serve as a physical target within the team's red zone offense. Evans, who ranks eighth all-time in career touchdown catches, chose the 49ers in free agency seeking a team with an immediate need for a primary wide receiver. He spent the training camp acclimating to his new teammates, including tight end George Kittle.
