Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy addressed running back Kaleb Johnson's situation as roster cuts approach. Johnson's performance in the final preseason games will be critical for his chances of making the team. McCarthy indicated Johnson would have significant playing time against the New York Jets this Friday, which suggests his current spot on the roster is uncertain. Johnson's past performance, including only 69 rushing yards last season, puts added pressure on him during these evaluations.
- •McCarthy emphasized the opportunity for Johnson in upcoming preseason games.
- •Johnson managed just three yards on two carries in the preseason opener.
- •Steelers have six running backs in training camp, competing for limited spots.
- •Rookie fullback Riley Nowakowski is expected to secure a roster position.
- •Johnson must significantly improve to rival his competition for a spot.
