Mike McChesney signs contract to return to Peoria Rivermen for 2026-27

The Peoria Rivermen signed veteran right wing Mike McChesney for the 2026-27 SPHL season. McChesney returns for his third campaign with the club after leading the league with 33 goals during the 2025-26 season. In 100 regular-season games with Peoria, the Dickinson, North Dakota native has recorded 53 goals and 33 assists. Head coach Jean-Guy Trudel cited McChesney’s proficiency on both the power play and the penalty kill as a primary reason for the signing. The forward previously played four years at St. Norbert College and represented Team USA in the 2022-23 World University Games. Additionally, the Rivermen organization expanded its business operations by hiring Keegan Murphy as an account executive.
