Mike Tyson's hot mic moment distracts from Shohei Ohtani's award acceptance

Summary

At the ESPY Awards in New York on July 15, 2026, Shohei Ohtani was awarded the Best Single-Game Performance Award for his outstanding performance during the 2025 NLCS. Though he could not attend due to knee inflammation, influencer Jake Paul accepted the award on his behalf. During the announcement, Mike Tyson unknowingly asked, 'Shohei's a guy?' into a live microphone, drawing attention away from Ohtani's achievement. Ohtani’s September 2025 performance included multiple home runs and a solid pitching display. Despite his accolades, he has been dealing with knee issues and recently skipped the All-Star Game to focus on recovery for the second half of the season.
