Mikel Arteta and Riccardo Calafiori receive Premier League award nominations

The Premier League has announced its monthly award nominees for August, featuring Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and defender Riccardo Calafiori. Arteta earned his nomination for leading the team to two victories in the opening two matches of the campaign, maintaining a goal difference of +4. Calafiori is recognized for his performance at left-back, contributing two assists and helping the team secure two clean sheets. Arteta faces competition for the manager award from Enzo Maresca of Manchester City, Hull City’s Sergej Jakirovic, and Chelsea’s Xabi Alonso. Calafiori is nominated alongside Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Rayan Cherki, Bruno Fernandes, Mamadou Sangare, Konstantinos Tzolakis, and Yoane Wissa. These nominations follow Arsenal’s victory in the Community Shield against Manchester City, a match in which Calafiori recorded a goal.
