AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim is set to meet with owner Gerry Cardinale following a 2-0 home defeat to Benfica in the Europa League on September 16, 2026. This loss marks Amorim's first competitive defeat since his appointment, and it has raised questions about the team's recent performances, including back-to-back draws in Serie A. Despite concerns about defensive issues and team selections, sources suggest Amorim is not at immediate risk of being dismissed as Milan remains unbeaten in Serie A and sees him as a long-term candidate for the club's project. The meeting is aimed at evaluating the team's direction and addressing recent frustrations.
- •Milan lost 2-0 to Benfica in the Europa League.
- •Amorim's meeting with Cardinale is scheduled for September 17.
- •Milan remains unbeaten in Serie A despite recent performances.
- •Concerns include poor defense and ineffective attacking play.
- •Sacking Amorim after five matches would be seen as abrupt.
