Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff begins throwing program during injury recovery

The Milwaukee Brewers announced that veteran pitcher Brandon Woodruff has entered the third week of a five-week throwing program. Although the right-hander was placed on the 60-day injured list in July with a shoulder injury, team manager Pat Murphy noted a slight possibility of a return before the end of the 2026 season. Woodruff, a two-time All-Star, has recorded a 2-2 record and a 2.98 ERA across nine starts this year. His recovery progress coincides with a series-opening 4-3 victory for the Brewers against the Chicago Cubs on Monday. Milwaukee currently holds an 89-56 record and maintains an eight-game lead over Chicago in the National League Central standings. The teams are scheduled to continue their three-game series on Tuesday.
