Milwaukee Brewers re-sign infielder Jonathan Ornelas to minor league deal

The Milwaukee Brewers re-signed infielder Jonathan Ornelas to a minor league contract following his release on waivers last week. Ornelas, 26, was assigned to the Nashville Triple-A affiliate. The infielder originally joined the organization after a minor league trade with the Athletics. During his brief tenure with the major league club, Ornelas recorded two hits in nine plate appearances across three games. He is currently batting.310 with 11 home runs between his time with Yankees and Athletics affiliates this season. While eligible for postseason play, a return to the major league roster appears unlikely for the remainder of the schedule.
