Mineirão stadium to install hybrid pitch for Women’s World Cup 2027

Mineirão will replace its current natural grass pitch with a hybrid model to meet FIFA's requirements for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. This installation will utilize synthetic polyethylene fibers intertwined with natural grass, enhancing durability for heavy usage. The change is necessary due to logistical and technical demands, as the stadium is set to host eight matches over approximately 30 days. Costs for the pitch replacement will be shared among the Government of Minas Gerais, Minas Arena, and FIFA, with work expected after the Brazilian Championship ends on December 2. Cruzeiro’s schedule may face adjustments as the team prepares for five remaining home matches this season.
