Minnesota Twins activate Joe Ryan from injured list for Tigers start

The Minnesota Twins activated starting pitcher Joe Ryan from the 15-day injured list on Monday. Ryan, who missed a month of play due to a left glute strain, is scheduled to start for the team against the Detroit Tigers. The right-hander maintains a 3.65 ERA with 138 strikeouts over 125.2 innings this season and recently completed a 42-pitch outing at Triple-A St. Paul. Minnesota currently trails the Cleveland Guardians by 4.5 games for the final American League Wild Card spot with only a few weeks remaining in the regular season. To clear a roster spot for Ryan, the club optioned right-handed pitcher Garrett Acton to Triple-A. Ryan previously dealt with back discomfort and arm fatigue during the season but remained active through those issues.
