Minnesota United adds defender Cherrion Valerius on six-month loan

Minnesota United secured the signing of Dutch right wingback Cherrion Valerius on a six-month loan agreement from NAC Breda. The 20-year-old defender joins the club with an existing purchase option for the Loons to make the move permanent. Valerius becomes one of three additions for Minnesota United following the conclusion of the summer transfer window. The club also acquired forward Maurice Malone from Sturm Graz and secured a loan deal for midfielder Aziel Jackson from Jagiellonia Bailystok. These moves follow the departure of former Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Khaled El-Ahmad, which occurred less than two weeks before the deadline. Minnesota United failed to sign a central attacking midfielder during the window after pursuing several targets. Valerius, who has logged 50 appearances for his Dutch club, must complete immigration paperwork before joining the roster for the final 12 games of the 2026 season.
