Minnesota Vikings trade Walter Rouse to New England Patriots

The Minnesota Vikings traded backup offensive tackle Walter Rouse to the New England Patriots on Saturday. The deal, completed just before the Sunday roster cut deadline, involved an exchange of draft picks. Minnesota will receive a 2026 6th-round pick from New England in return for Rouse and a 2027 7th-round pick. The Vikings initially intended to waive Rouse, but the Patriots pursued the trade to acquire the player before he reached the waiver wire. Rouse, a 2024 6th-round draft pick, spent two seasons with the Minnesota organization without appearing as a starter. He serves primarily as a right guard on the depth chart but maintains the ability to play at the tackle position.
