Minnesota Wild starting goaltender Filip Gustavsson will not be ready for the beginning of the 2026-27 season. General Manager Bill Gustavsson confirmed the news Monday, stating that the goalie is recovering from hip surgery performed earlier this summer. While it remains uncertain if Gustavsson will return exactly one month into the campaign, the team plans to rely on Jesper Wallstedt and Calvin Pickard in the interim. Wallstedt previously served as the starter during the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, helping the team secure its first series win since 2015. With Gustavsson sidelined, Wallstedt now has the opportunity to compete for a permanent starting role. The Wild also signed veteran goaltender Calvin Pickard to provide additional depth while the crease rotation remains in flux.
