Mississippi State prepares offensive line for Minnesota defender Anthony Smith

Mississippi State football continues preparations for its upcoming road game against Minnesota on September 12. Following an opening 62-13 win over Louisiana-Monroe, the Bulldogs face a defensive unit led by Anthony Smith, the Big Ten’s sack leader from last season. Smith recorded 12.5 sacks in 2025 and figures to be a significant test for a Bulldogs offensive line that did not allow a sack in its season debut. Head coach Jeff Lebby described Smith as a high-production player, and players expressed a focus on individual technique to mitigate his pass-rushing impact. The Minnesota defense also features jack linebacker TJ Bush Jr., who recorded a sack in the team's opening 59-7 victory against Eastern Illinois, and returning lineman Karter Menz. This matchup serves as the first of nine consecutive games against power conference opponents for Mississippi State.
