Missouri football now recognizes 1960 national championship after Senate resolution

Missouri football announced on August 28 that it will recognize its 1960 team as national champions. The decision follows a resolution passed unanimously by the U.S. Senate on August 6. The 1960 team finished the season with an 11-0 record, winning the Big Eight and defeating Navy in the Orange Bowl, although they had a regular season loss to Kansas that was later forfeited. Missouri's athletic director, Laird Veatch, expressed gratitude to Senator Eric Schmitt for introducing the resolution, which highlights the accomplishments of that team. The university plans to honor the title during a game against Troy on September 19.
