Missouri State football adds Springfield city flag to team helmet decals

Missouri State football introduced a new helmet decal featuring the Springfield city flag during the team's September 5 game against No. 8 Texas A&M. The blue and white design, adopted by the city in 2022, appeared on the front of the Bears' maroon and white helmets. Head coach Casey Woods stated the change aims to demonstrate the program's commitment to the local community and encourage reciprocal investment from Springfield residents. This addition debuted alongside the team's season-opening result against Texas A&M. Missouri State is scheduled to host Lindenwood for its home opener on September 12. Woods expressed a goal of surpassing the program's single-game attendance record of 18,386, which was established during a 2014 matchup against North Dakota.
