Mitch Keller placed on 60-day injured list, ending season for Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed right-handed starter Mitch Keller on the 60-day injured list due to a right arm teres major muscle injury, officially ending his season. Keller's performance this year was marked by inconsistency, finishing with a record of 6-8 and a 5.29 ERA over 22 starts. He had a strong start to the season, going 4-1 with a 2.87 ERA in his first eight games, but struggled in the second half with a 2-7 record and a 6.95 ERA in his last 14 appearances. The Pirates did not acquire a starting pitcher at the trade deadline, and could move Carmen Mlodzinski back into the rotation in Keller's absence, while recalling left-hander Brandon Eisert from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill the roster spot.
