Mitchell van der Gaag set to manage Maritimo in Portugal

Mitchell van der Gaag, former assistant coach at Manchester United, is reported to be appointed as the head coach of Liga Portugal 2 club Maritimo. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement, which will run until June 2028. Van der Gaag previously played for Maritimo and has past management experience with the team. He took over at Manchester United in a successful tenure with Erik ten Hag but left after a coaching reshuffle in July 2024. His appointment at Maritimo comes after a brief spell managing FC Zürich.
